Rita Baker

With 25 years of experience in business consulting and 10 years in technology product development and management, Rita Baker brings a wealth of expertise to the organisations she supports. Her unique blend of skills empowers small and medium-sized businesses to uncover innovative business models and implement them profitably. Known for her exceptional listening and communication abilities, Rita quickly grasps both the big picture and the critical details within any ecosystem. Her clients consistently commend her outstanding work ethic and trustworthiness.

Rita assists organisations in agile planning and adopting agile management tools and processes. She evaluates key management functions, providing guidance to align or realign them with an optimal agile culture. Rita coaches top-tier management to ensure the organisation’s plans are executed effectively, fostering an agile mindset. Rita also assists in agile planning of new product lines as well as internal and external projects.

Rita’s impact as a mentor and coach is significant. In the last 15 years, she has guided and supported over 1,000 entrepreneurs through her consulting work, her leadership in the Mentors Montreal community, and her collaborations with incubators, accelerators and other entrepreneurial support organisations.

As an entrepreneur herself, Rita deeply understands the challenges and pressures of entrepreneurship. Having experienced burnout earlier in her career, she developed effective strategies to manage stress and heavy workloads in order to sustain her journey as an entrepreneur. She now shares these learnings with the founders she coaches.

Rita’s contributions to the entrepreneurial community have been widely recognized. She was nominated for Mentor and Community Organiser awards in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024, winning Mentor of the Year in 2021 at the Montreal Startup Community Awards. She is the founder of Mentors Montreal and co-founder of the Montreal Lean Startup Circle. In addition, she actively volunteers as a mentor and business coach for several entrepreneurial support organisations.
